Reels are not only the domain of social platform apps for phone addicts. In this case, Reels shine on the Tai Kwun stage as circus artists perform in the flesh an endless stream of short acts that continue to amaze and captivate! In Circus Reels – Throw to Glow, five artists from Hong Kong and France will take turns delivering one mini work after another, with the theme of “Throw”, showing precisely to the audience their artistic journey and expertise.
HoHo Yeung, member of Rare Circus, puts a new spin on juggling with clothes taking centre stage — a quest to prove that Danshari is no easy feat. Charles Huang, another member of the same group, goes to extra lengths to present the myriad forms the diabolo may take. Ball juggler Jason Lee teams up with a musician on a sensory installation that integrates juggling with sound. Lee Wai Lok, a multi-award-winning local juggler, partners with installation artist to make the voices of corporate slaves heard: “Humans are nothing but machines!” French awarded juggling artist Antoine Jacot, on a lighter note, experiments with juggling, dance and magic to expand the world of object theatre.

Clothes x Juggling
Concept and Performance: HoHo Yeung
“Why can’t we break free from our attachment to old possessions, and why do we allow our personal space to be occupied by [it or Him]? Is that the only choice we have after all?”
I have nothing to say
Diablo x Form x Exploration
Concept and Performance: Charles Huang
“Much ado about nothing — this is the idiom I would use to describe myself. When the crux of an issue is that the issue never existed in the first place, I have nothing to say.”
Invisible Skin
Concept and Performance: Jason Lee
“Some footprints are so badly glued onto me as if they were my handiwork. Our shapes are recorded, assembled and reprogrammed. The system is working. Inside it is me…(._.)”

Juggling x Mechanical Installation
Concept and Performance: Lee Wai Lok
“Humans are just machines? I believe that one’s consciousness is dictated by material existence. Plus, with years of experience as a corporate slave, my conclusion is: Yes, i AM!”
Chrysalide
Juggling x Dance x Magic
Concept and Performance: Antoine Jacot
“Driven by juggling, dance, and new magic, we use object theatre to experiment with the encounter and richness of its language. The performance follows the initiative journey of an ordinary hero in search of balance, grappling with the feelings and emotions that cross his path. The first wonders. The first emotions. When the gaze falls for the first time on the world around him. When the hand brushes. When so many sounds move us. Each time, like a new birth.
Chrysalide is a suspended moment open to poetry.
